FAQ

Many donors and supporters have sent us Frequently Asked Questions for which we are posting here for your review. If any of the FAQs and their answers do not help you in what you would like to know, please contact us and we will do our best to help you as soon as possible.

Do we accept VHS tapes?

Unfortunately, we do not. We found that many of the V.A. hospitals where the donated DVDs go to no longer have VCRs. Also, the cost for shipping DVDs is much less expensive.

My group wants to send a large number of DVDs. What is the best way to do this?

Our primary goal is to have donors send DVDs directly to the V.A. facilities listed on our website. When sending more than 10 DVDs to one facility (Hospital, Vet Center etc), we suggest calling first and ask if they are able to receive so many DVDs from one donor. The reason for this is because sometimes a radio station or newspaper will mention DVDs4Vets and many people will want to help out at the same time. If 500 people each want to send 10 DVDs to one V.A. facility, it can result in too many donations arriving at once.

If I send my donation to the DVDs4Vets office, where are my DVDs sent to?

We receive around 500 DVDs every week. Unless specified by the donor, we always forward these donations to the V.A. facilities that are in rural areas where attention to this project has been less than that in larger cities. If a donor would like their DVDs sent to a specific facility, we always do so.

Will I receive an acknowledgement letter or a receipt for tax purposes?

Absolutely  As a 501(c)3 charity, we are required to send acknowledgement letters to all donors. We also ask the recipient V.A. facility receiving a donation to contact the donor as well.

Are there any DVDs or subject matter I should not send?

Because we receive large donations from several Hollywood studios, we cannot accept home-burned copies (bootlegs). Also, many of the V.A. hospitals prohibit adult-related material (pornography) so we ask that neither are donated. Please also take into consideration that horror movies and anything scary should not be donated.

What is the least expensive way to send my donation of DVDs to either a hospital or DVDs4Vets?

If mailing your donation to a V.A. facility or to our office, please use USPS Media Mail. It is the least expensive method and is very reliable. We also receive by UPS and Federal Express ground.
